Prefer to choose your own frame?
Many of my original paintings are available unframed, giving you the freedom to choose a frame that works beautifully with both the artwork and your home.
I’ve gathered some ready-made frame options below that I think pair especially well with my paintings, along with a few tips to make choosing the right frame easier.
A LITTLE NOTE ABOUT THESE FRAMES
I’ll admit I’m a little biased—no ready-made frame is going to win me over quite like the hardwood frames I make by hand for my paintings. My handmade frames are built specifically for my artwork, and if you’re collecting more than one painting, they’re also the best way to ensure your frames match beautifully from piece to piece.
But I know sometimes you’d rather choose your own frame (or simply want another look), so I’ve gathered some ready-made options that I think pair especially well with my work. Some I’ve personally used with my ⅛" hardboard paintings, while others are frames I’ve selected because I think they’re a particularly good fit. I’ll note the difference below.
CHOOSING A FRAME
When selecting a ready-made frame, look for one designed to hold artwork on a panel rather than a frame intended only for photographs behind glass.
My original oil paintings are best displayed without glass or acrylic, allowing the texture, brushwork, and depth of the paint to remain fully visible.
Be sure to choose a frame that matches the exact dimensions of your painting and check the frame’s depth and mounting method before purchasing. The recommendations below are styles I think work especially well with my artwork, but availability and specifications may vary by retailer.
These are ready-made frames I’ve personally used or selected to pair well with my original paintings. When noted, I’ve tested the frame with my hardboard panels and displayed the artwork without glass or acrylic.
A NOTE ABOUT FRAME FIT
My original paintings on hardboard are approximately ⅛" thick. When choosing a ready-made frame, be sure the frame opening matches the artwork size and that the frame has enough depth to accommodate a ⅛" panel.
