Meet the artist

Amy Remling

I create original paintings inspired by landscapes, florals, still lifes, and the beauty I notice in everyday life.

I’m less interested in painting a perfect representation of a place or object than in capturing what made me stop and notice it in the first place. Expressive brushwork, texture, color, and all the small imperfections of something made by hand are an important part of my work.

Made by hand, from start to finish

I wanted the handmade quality of my paintings to continue beyond the canvas, so I began making the hardwood frames I offer with many of my original paintings.

Each one is cut, assembled, and finished by hand in my studio, with the wood chosen to complement the artwork it surrounds. I love that when one of these pieces leaves my studio, everything from the first brushstroke to the finished frame has been made by my hands.
